About GARDO

Gabiley Area Relief & Development Organisation (a.ka. GARDO) is a non-profit and non-political organisation and it was set up on the 19th May 2001 to respond to the prevailing needs of the Gabiley region of Somaliland Republic. The general public services infrastructure and the environment were in this region have been completely ruined during the civil war and most of the destructions were caused by the then hostile military dictator.

GARDO is now in its 8th year of establishment as a registered charitable organisation in England & Wales (UK). All its engagements are charitable activities which are aimed at relieving the poverty and improve living conditions of the local inhabitants of one of Somaliland's key regions, the Gabiley region.

Thanks to the generosity and the tremendous efforts exerted by its members in all its understakings, GARDO has made significant achievements in its fundraising efforts and the successful deliveries of its projects, both of which ultimately contribute to the overall aims and objectives of the organisation.

GARDO has led by example in mobilising and engaging diaspora communities especially those in the UK to work together in their local wards and towns by raising funds and collecting donations for the public institutions of Somaliland. These institituions include Health & Academic institutions such as hospitals and schools. The other areas that GARDO has been involved include equiping local sports centres and relaying donations to the local orphanage centre.
